Moving On with Ruby Lever

Ruby Lever came to talk to us on Monday 21 November. Ruby is well known to many of us as she is a member of the Andover branch of the Embroiderers' Guild and has regularly contributed her beautiful work to our exhibitions. She told us how she was trained as a draughts person but then spent time at home raising her family. When her children had left home she enrolled on City and Guilds Embroidery Part 1 at Cricklade College and then went on to complete Part 2 at Urchfont Manor College.

Ruby talked to us about how she developed her distinctive style and brought many samples of the work she produced whilst studying and beyond.

Ruby also talked about some of the commissions she has been asked to produce, including the altar cloth at Compton Abbas church and ecclesiastical stoles for Wells Cathedral.

Many thanks Ruby, for a wonderful evening of entertainment and insight, and allowing us to look at and touch your beautiful work.
